Fleet Electrification Projects
EVOPT is currently in use in multiple projects across the U.S. and internationally. Learn more about these projects below.
Featured Project:
Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA)
The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority is electrifying its fleet of 120+ transit buses with EVOPT being used to plan the transition and ensure the project is completed cost effectively.
Recent EVOPT Projects
Explore a few of the recent fleet electrification projects that the EVOPT team and software supported.
King County Metro
Microgrid Labs is working with Parametrix Inc., to provide services to King County Metro in Seattle, WA, as the agency’s transit system is transitioning to an electric fleet. Microgrid Labs is using EVOPT as the tool to complete the detailed fleet electrification plan.

Massachusetts Clean Energy Center
Massachusetts Clean Energy Center (MassCEC) is providing free electrification planning services to 60 commercial fleets in an effort to speed up the transition to electric vehicles. Microgrid Labs is on the technical advisory team using EVOPT to provide detailed fleet electrification plans to the participating fleets.

Ameren & Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI)
Microgrid Labs partnered with Ameren and the Electric Power Research Institute to develop an electrification plan for Hazelwood School District’s fleet of 100 school buses. Planning efforts included creating a digital twin to represent depot operations, a feasibility study, and more.
Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA)
Microgrid Labs is working with the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority to electrify 120 of its transit buses with EVOPT is being used to reduce planning costs, total cost of ownership, and greenhouse gas emissions, and to explore potential charging strategies and load profiles.
Via Mobility
Via Mobility Services in Boulder, CO is electrifying their HOP transit service to support Boulder’s emission reduction goals. Microgrid Labs is supporting their effort by completing the fleet electrification planning while also sizing and integrating a microgrid to support charging and facility operations.
GoRaleigh
GoRaleigh provides public transportation for Raleigh, North Carolina. In order to reduce emissions, GoRaleigh has begun the process of electrifying their transit fleet. Microgrid Labs supported this transition by completing an electric fleet planning optimization analysis, which included conducting route energy analyses, vehicle battery sizing, and recommending the necessary charging infrastructure.
Chapel Hill Transit
Chapel Hill Transit provides public transportation services to the City of Chapel Hill, NC, and the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill. In order to reduce emissions, Chapel Hill Transit is electrifying a portion of its fleet. Microgrid Labs is supporting this effort by completing an electric fleet planning optimization analysis, including route energy analyses, vehicle battery sizing, and charging infrastructure recommendations.
